Complete guide to the Dubai Metro

fares, and timings. It was opened in 2009. It connects the city from Jebel Ali to Rashidiya which
is located near Dubai International Airport. It consists of 47 stations with 2 lines green and red.
Dubai Metro is 74.6km long.
Now the blue line is in the offing which will cover the introduction of 14 stations and three
interchange stations, which will be 30km long in total, 14.5km running above, and 15.5 km
underground. It will be operational in 2029.
You will use Metro with a Nol card (like Metro Cards in New York or Oyster cards in London),
Dubai Metro offers free WIFI. You must tap your card on machined or kiosks inside the metro
station.

Dubai Metro timings
• Monday to Thursday: 5 am
• Friday: 5 am – 1 am
• Saturday: 5 am
• Sunday: 8 am
During the peak hours, you have to wait for 3min and 45 sec. During off-peak time you have to
wait for seven minutes.

Timings are changed during celebrations and public holidays (New Year and Eid ) you have to
wait for a longer time due to the increase in the volume of passengers.
Dubai Metro fares
There are seven kinds of transport systems in Dubai each connected with a bus station, metro
station, water bus station, and Tram station. You can travel with any transport system. You have
to pay for the zones you have passed. If you are using two different modes you have to check
into the second mode within 30 min if you want to charge for a single trip.
Dubai Metro fares vary by type of Nol card, as follows:

Personal: Dhs3

Social Affairs, students, residents, and Senior Citizens get 50 percent off with the use of their
Card, while children are allowed to use public transport free. Social Affairs, students, residents,
and Senior Citizens, must have a Nol Personal Card for free or discounted travel.
